Paros has over 4000 years of history.

Ionian and Aeolian settlers, Venetian conquerors, Byzantine pirates... All of them have left their individual mark, creating a unique cultural combination that the visitor will apprehend from his first minutes on the island. Entering the harbor of Parikia and looking to the right, you will see Fragokastello. Entering the picturesque streets and looking to the left you will see part of the wall that surrounds Panagia Ekatontapyliani, the gem of Paros. A little further you will find the archaeological museum that can be spotted from the ancient marbles located in its surroundings.

Outside Parikia there are numerous sighting that will draw your attention: The Asklipiion, the butterfly valley, Dilio, the temple of Dilios Apollo, the ancient marble mines near the village of Marathi, the Venetian castle and the laographic museum of Naoussa.

If you look closely to the walls of churches and other older structures you will find out that ancient marbles, even whole columns, have been used, removed from demolished ancient temples and whorshiping places.
